Mission
The mission of Windmill Harbour's Security operations is to proactively maintain and strengthen a safe, secure environment within the Community, to effectively respond to conditions threatening the physical well-being of the Community's residents, guests and property, and to administer the Community's security gate effectively. Security plays a central role in enforcing the community's Rules & Regulations.

Primary Responsibilities
The Security operation carries out its mission in three primary ways:

1. Proactively maintaining a safe, secure environment for the Community
  • Limiting access to the Community to bona fide parties, including property owners, members of the South Carolina Yacht Club, guests, long-term renters, and individuals providing services to property owners (such as employees, contractors, delivery services and health service providers)
  • Enforcing the Community's Rules and Regulations, particularly those that directly affect security and safety, including parking, traffic and construction activity
  • · Identifying and directly responding to potential threats to security, by regularly patrolling the Community
2. Effectively responding to emergencies
  • Initiating and coordinating emergency response from local fire, law enforcement and emergency medical service agencies
  • Providing emergency first aid, including defibrillation and CPR, under appropriate circumstances
  • Removing (when possible) or referring to appropriate parties hazards created by storms such as fallen branches and debris clogging storm sewers
  • · Supporting activities to prepare for and recover from natural and man-made disasters, under the direction of the Emergency Management Committee
3. Effectively administering the Community's security gate
  • Providing a cordial, helpful and professional reception to all people entering Windmill Harbour
  • Consistently and accurately collecting gate pass fees as defined by the community's Rules and Regulations, and adequately accounting for, and safeguarding fees collected
  • Maintaining a clean, attractive and functional gate house
