COMMUNICATIONS In January the Board was on a two-day retreat with a
facilitator to set priorities, define committee responsibilities and organize
projects for this year. It was a very productive session and gave your Board
the opportunity to brainstorm and focus on its most important goals. We
developed a Mission Statement that we wish to share with you:
The POA's
Board of Directors is entrusted with preserving and enhancing the qualities of
the community that contribute meaningfully to its uniqueness. The Board of
Directors' overriding responsibility, as stewards, is to maintain and increase
the values of property ownership in our community. These values are: ·
- Our Unique Physical Assets and Community
Character
- Our Properties' Economic Value
- Our Security
- Our Community's Long-Term Economic
Viability
In the interest of safety, the POA will create a
WH directory for confidential communications and community events (NOT to be
shared with any outside entity). As an example, if we have an emergency
evacuation, email would be the perfect way to inform home owners and keep them
apprised when it is safe to return to HHI. While not everyone in WH has email,
the majority of us do, so please email your name, address, email address and
cell phone number to Dee Eaton at PAI (d.eaton@paihhi.com).
ARB
The ARB is pleased to welcome three new members: Linda Nickles, Julia
Qudeen and Jim Smith. Thank you to outgoing members Mike Thomas, Rob Tedford
and Elaine Keane for their years of service.
LANDSCAPING The
center island on Old Ferry Point and the Indian Hill entrance will be
landscaped shortly, as funds were approved in the 2006 budget. Also, there will
be landscaping around the swale on Sparwheel where the drain pipe was placed to
solve the flooding problem.
SECURITY/TRAFFIC ISSUES Now that
we have traffic speed reducers on Crosstree, "creative" drivers are trying to
circumvent them by traveling on the Crosstree Patio side street, creating
safety issues for those residents. As a result, the Board has installed a
temporary speed bump on Crosstree Patio to deter that traffic and reinforce the
point that Crosstree was not designed to be a through street. Did you know that
there are now two Security officers on every shift, every day of the week?
SPRING CLEANING It's that time of year again-when our houses
are covered with green, fuzzy mildew. Please take a hard look at your house to
see whether it's time for power washing. PAI knows of two companies, Gentle
Spray and Softwash, that might offer a WH discount if enough of you call. The
Compliance Committee will be sending you a letter in May if you haven't taken
care of this, so your cooperation is appreciated. If your neighbors are
part-timers, you might check their homes and let them know that they need to
take care of this and any other problems, such as deteriorating fencing and
overgrown landscaping, that will only get worse with time.
RULES
& REGULATIONS The Rules & Regulations are being updated for the
first time in four years and will be sent to all property owners in the next
month or two. They will also be given to new residents by our Sunshine
Committee Head, Linda Nickles, who has put together a package to welcome new
residents to WH. If you know of anyone who needs to be contacted, please let
Linda know.
PUBLIC SERVICE SEMINAR Coastal Plains Insurance
will hold a homeowner's insurance seminar for WH residents only at the SCYC in
April. Since 17 tropical storms, 9 hurricanes and 5 major hurricanes are
predicted for 2006, Coastal wants to help you re-evaluate your coverage to make
sure you're adequately prepared. Enclosed is your personal invitation.
Marcia Cornell is signing off for now. Email me news at
