We are happy you are here –or you will be soon- and we’d like to welcome you and assist you in making your move into Windmill Harbour (WH) as pleasant as possible. Please let us know when you are coming, or if you are here and have not yet received a welcome visit, so that we may introduce you to our community.
Windmill Harbour consists of 172 acres located on the Intracoastal Waterway and Calibogue Sound at the north end of Hilton Head Island. It is a 5 minute drive from WH to public and private schools, and 6 minutes to Hilton Head Hospital. There are many restaurants, shopping centers, and golf courses on and off the Island nearby as well.
If you are new to the Island, look for the free publications you will see around shopping centers and restaurants which are excellent guides for things to do and where to go for services and shopping. Several include names of restaurants, their location and reviews. Our local newspaper, The Island Packet, publishes a booklet entitled Newcomers Packet - A Warm Welcome Guide to Southern Beaufort County, in which you can find additional information on topics like education, medical facilities, places of worship, annual events, local history, recreational activities, and a map of the Low Country.
Just a few quick reminders: Please let our Security Office (843-681-6405) know the date of your move and the name of your moving company. You will need to purchase decals for your personal vehicles for your entrance into the community. Also, please be advised that you must submit a pass request for any family or friends who may visit you in WH. Homeowners can either phone in or e-mail security for a pass. (security@windmillharbour.org). There are gate fees for commercial vehicles entering WH which are posted at the gate house. This fee is paid in cash by the company driver. In some cases, you may be asked to reimburse the driver for these fees. However, most commercial vehicles entering WH have decals which they purchase on an annual basis, and therefore do not pay entrance fees on a per entry basis.
If you will be away from your WH residence for several days, please stop by the gatehouse and fill out a vacation form for Security so our officers are aware that your home is unoccupied. In the event you have an emergency situation, you should first call 911, and then call Security.
When you receive the POA Rules and Regulations, please review the section on parking. Please note that there is no over night street parking allowed by non-residents without prior notification to Security. We would also ask pet owners to review the section on animal control.
If you have any questions about any regulation, please feel free to contact any POA Board member or Committee chairperson listed on the website for further clarification. This is a special community, and we are happy you have chosen to be a part of it.

Bagged landscaping debris is collected curbside the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.
